Me llamo Rocky

Mother's Day and Such

As I mentioned a few weeks ago, Eva is really into dressing herself these days.  She comes up with some pretty fun outfits (and way too many of them in one day), but she really enjoys experimenting with different looks.  I love watching her imagination explore.  In most cases, though, whenever we do her hair to leave the house, she usually always requests a princess 'do.  The other day, she finally changed it up and asked for "monster hair".  She was happy with the results, sporting it for the rest of the day...

Eva is also much more interested in coloring.  If I want some quiet time while Enzo is sleeping, I will bust out the colors.  She has more than enough coloring books that have accumulated over the last few years, so now she is putting them to use.  She will quietly sit and color for over an hour and then will tell me stories about what she is coloring, who it is for, what they should do with it, etc.  She gets very deep into thought when she is working on something special and will stay very quiet (the most quiet I have ever seen her in her entire life)...

Lately, now that the sun sets later and it has been warmer out, we get a little time with daddy outside after dinner.  Dana and I will sit on the swing and watch the kids play, or the kids will follow daddy around to check out all the plants, flowers, trees, and bees to see how they are all doing.  They always manage to figure out how to make silly...

Yesterday was Mother's Day and I was pretty specific about what I was expecting (sometimes, ladies, its the only way to get what you want ;) ).  I want photographer reflectors and no mommy duties.  I woke up to my husband making coffee (pretty big deal), and reflectors to help my new photography hobby.  The rest of the day was "wing-it" style, starting with breakfast at a neighborhood restaurant.  Before we left, all I wanted was a pic with me and my babies, so Daddy patiently took some.  (Yes, Eva and I are matching again! :)  )...

And when Enzo had enough, Eva and I got a few close ups.  I thought they turned out so cute, I had to share one...

After breakfast, we headed to Balboa Park, where we had some free passes for Eva to ride the carousel...

Then the family took a train ride (it was definitely Enzo's maximum threshold for fear tolerance, but he did quite well)...

We mosied over to the zoo right after, for we were only steps away.  The kids wanted to check out the petting zoo.  It was really cute, Enzo would bend down to look eye-to-eye with each goat, then give it a gently, quick rub, then move on to the next one.  It was like he was the goat whisperer or something.  It was so funny to watch...

After the zoo, we went home.  I think we were all pretty exhausted.  But, after I got my second wind, I wanted to try out my reflectors, so we made Eva a floral crown, picked from some flowers in our gardens, then we had a little tea party set up out back for her and her teddy bear (who didn't make the cut in my shot-sorry little buddy)...

Then right before bedtime, we made a laundry basket sled, which I pulled the kids through the house with.  Once I hit my limit, Enzo tried really hard to take over...

And then it was lights out.
