Memorial Weekend 2014

This last weekend was busy with all kinds of fun activities.  On Saturday, Eva and I attended a "Purple Party" for Eva's friend, Eleanor's 3rd birthday...

After that, we made completely last minute plans to have a bonfire on the beach with our friends.  The kids loved playing on the edge of the water, throwing sand and rocks...

And then when they just couldn't handle the rules of not going into the water, we shifted gears and moved the kids to the playground for a while...

On Sunday morning, Dana let me sleep in.  I didn't realize how bad I needed it until I looked at the clock in the morning and saw that it was 10am!  I felt like I slept the whole day away.  I was so gracious for the sleep and to see that Dana also made me coffee (or tried to) and already had plans for the family.  We got breakfast at the restaurant adjoining City Famers Nursery (where we got our chickens from), then went to play at the nursery.  Enzo loved playing with all the different animals.  Eva loved playing on the teeter totter, then had fun leading us through mazes of fruit trees...

We spent the rest of the day at home, playing in the backyard.  We took the chickens out for their first back yard adventure.  Eva did her best to try and make them feel comfortable by making soothing sounds, holding them, and assuring them that they would be ok.  "Its ok, its ok.  I gotcha.  I got ya.  Oh yeah, its ok, don't worry. I got ya."  It was so cute.  They are going to have such a fun relationship!

On Monday, Dana had a meeting, so I took the kids to meet with Jen and Carlos's friends and family at the beach.  It was an awesome day!!  The kids had so much fun and I did too!  We were on the bay, so there were no waves to worry about, we had a big grassy area for snacks and the best part yet is the kids are very careful with their limits, so I didn't have to worry about them charging into the water and going above their heads.  Enzo loved going for rides on the boogie board...

And Eva had fun going out on the Paddle board with Carlos...

To my surprise, Enzo lasted long past naptime without even getting the least bit fussy (although, he was definitely zombie-like), so we got to spend a good chunk of time there.  As soon as we hit the carseats, though, it was lights out for both kids almost instantly.

Today, we met up with a bunch of other stay-at-home moms to check out the new Waterfront Park downtown San Diego.  Its hard to believe that it has taken this long for SD to get something of this sort, but I'm sure glad we have it now.  The kids loved it.  They have a huge playground with all kinds of fun things to climb on...

And a really large splash area for the kids to run around and stay cool in.  Enzo enjoyed running all over the place.  He kept teasing me by running away and making me chase him.  I would point back to the splash area and say "Enzo, go back by the water."  Then he would point his finger back at me and give me a bunch of Enzo-babble and start laughing and run away.  He definitely thought he was funny (and, well, I did too!).  Here is him teasing me as he was crossing the bridge walking backwards...

I'm so thankful that we have had so many days of beautiful weather.  Thank you Mother Nature!!
