Me llamo Rocky

My Little Fairy Princess

A couple weekends ago, Eva and I got a date together.  We were both very excited to attend the annual San Diego Botanic Garden Fairy Festival.  Eva has had a hand-me-down fairy costume hanging in the closet for a couple years now and has been dying for the day that she could be big enough to wear it.  She was so happy to find that she is finally big enough!!  So, she got dressed up and we headed on our way.  Eva was in heaven, for there was so much for her to do there.  Of course, we saw real fairies...

She got to get her face painted, make a flower fairy, a magic fairy chest box with treasures, and so much more.  We then joined in on some fairy music, where Eva danced her heart out...

And when we were completely fairied-out, we took a walk through the trails, following Eva's direction...

One day I managed to have a little time after the gym and told Eva that if she behaved and kept Enzo happy so that I could get groceries first, then we could run over to the dollar store to pick out a puzzle.  Well, just my luck, this grocery store had a car for the kids to ride (and 2 steering wheels so no taking turns!).  Pretty easy to keep them happy...

After, we ran over to get her puzzles.  We found a My Little Pony 24-piece puzzle, and then took our chances with a 48-piece puzzle with an angel kitty on it.  That first day, she easily did the 24-piece one, and was a little bit tricked by the 48-piece one and kept doing a big chunk and not figuring out how to get it to hook to the other chunk, so she kept taking it apart and doing it over again.  This puzzle seriously entertained her for 2 hours!  In the end, she did it and boy was she proud (as was I)...

One day, we had to drive over to Rocky's vet to get more flea medication, which is a little drive.  I had to make it adventure to make the trip worth it for everyone, so after we picked up the meds, I surprised the kids with a visit to Mr. Frostie's for an ice cream treat.  It was so great.  We happen to be good friends with the owners, who skipped us in line and even treated us all to sundaes and a shake.  It was so nice and made the trip so much more enjoyable, we were all very appreciated and very happy with all the sweetness...

Back at home, Enzo has turned into the animal whisperer.  He loves to just go out and watch Bumpy or the chickens move around.  On this particular day, I watched Enzo find his way over to Bumpy's house (Bumpy was completely inside) and he just sat next to it.  After a little while, I watched and Bumpy came out to greet him, and then minutes later all the chickens came over to drink the water next to Enzo.  He just sat there and watched and talked to them, without trying to grab at them or bother them.  It was so incredible to see.

Last weekend we went to our favorite nursery/farm where we also grab a bit to eat.  Before we left, as I was changing Enzo, he spotted his suspenders and insisted that he wear them.  I'm certainly not going to stop this little kid from deciding his own style (even if it doesn't match my own), and so I happily put them on.  After eating, we visited the nursery, where the kids love to play in the kid-farm area...and now i realized why he wanted to wear the suspenders (it's all part of being a farmer, right?)...

Lately, Enzo has been excited about sitting on the potty chair every time he hears someone say potty.  He typically sits on it fully clothed, but whenever I have the time and patience I will take his diaper off, in hopes of having him actually go in it, so he can make the connection that is what it's for.  One day I could tell he was about to go in his diaper so I said, lets go sit on the potty.  We pulled his diaper down and sat there for 10 minutes, then we added some cars to the mix, a book and sat forever but he just wouldn't go.  I was impressed with his patience to sit on the potty as long as he did, but he just hasnt' made the connection yet...

We have created a Job Chart for Eva to work on some of the things we need her to do around the house.  For the last 2 weeks she has been doing very well with it.  She has 6 things that she can work on, and when she does them throughout the day, she gets a heart or a star (her pick).  After 5, I promised a trip to Yogurtland.  So, on Saturday, she accomplished getting 5 hearts for cleaning her room before bedtime without any warnings.  She has taken on the job head-on and some times will even include that she has to clean the whole house (her idea, not mine).  She loves working towards getting a heart.  I didn't realize how well this would work for her, but I'm so happy I've figured it out.  This is our happy girl with her Yogurtland reward...
