For those of you who read our blogs regularly, you might get a little kick out of this. As you might recall, back in May, Dana and I bought a new camera and took it for a test run at the Mission Gorge Trails ( http://danaandbrooke.com/n-900-the-day-ruiner.html), and came home with no pictures. So, this last weekend Dana and I decided that we were going hiking at the same trails. Its something we always talk about, yet never do. Well, we were doing it this time. I knew it would be a beautiful hike, so I wanted to bring the camera. I was thinking about all the beautiful shots of the scenery we would get, on top of pictures of Dana and I to prove that we actually did go hiking.
On the way to the trails, Dana and I got into an arguement about what we would carry with us while hiking. He said he would carry the camera with the long lense already attached (which is for long distance--scenery from afar). I wanted to take the camera case with both lenses because I wanted to catch closeups as well. And, in the case, we also fit 2 water bottles, a phone, and keys. Dana was being minimal and I was preparing for everything. Yes, the bag would be a little heavy, but we would have everything we need. So who's right? You can decide, its all in the type of person you are. Needless to say, I won the arguement (Dana has already learned his role as a husband-hahaha). But, I had to carry the bag, he, the camera.
After hiking for the first mile, we had stopped to shoot a few different spots, change lenses, and admire all the photographic views. I was thinking carrying the bag was a bit irritating, but knowing what it had to offer kept me content. And, so came this big tree which overlooked a beautiful pond, with huge branches hovering over the whole trail, creating a great deal of shade, and a perfectly photographic moment. I asked Dana to take a few of me, and he is snapping away, only to realize that the screen says "No memory card". What? NNNNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Before we left, I took the memory card out to take off all the pics that we already saved to the computer, but I never put the memory card back in!! Argh!! All the arguing, carrying the heavy case, and changing lenses, and all for nothing. And, this time I couldn't be mad at anyone but myself. Of course, we had to laugh about it because the last time that happened, we were at the exact same place and made just as big of a deal about it as this time. We joked about how the spirits in the park definetly didn't want us to have any pics of this magical place. Oh, and the camera bag? What a waste of time and space. I was so mad about it that Dana took it from me without any hesitiation and carried it back to the truck so we could continue on with our hike (and that is why I love my husband soooo much).
Of course, he wasn't going to spend the day without teasing me about it a little...so as we were hiking through the most beautiful areas of the park, Dana would take a moment to say "Oh look at that beautiful rock, lets take a picture", or "This is a great photographic moment". And we both would get a bit of a chuckle out of it. As you can see below, this is the only picture we got:
