This last Monday was Dana's birthday. Before the day came, Eva, Enzo and I decided to take a trip to Dollar Tree to find some festive things to help us celebrate. Eva knew exactly what she wanted to get Daddy, so it made it easy for me...and $5 later, we were set. We found some suncatcher crafts, which the kids later worked on. Eva had a flower...
And Enzo had an airplane...
On Sunday, we used Dana's "get to the front of the line" coupon for Phil's BBQ. It is our favorite BBQ joint, but it always has a super long line to get in, so we had to take advantage of his birthday coupon. One of our family favorites is the onion rings. They taste scrumptious and they make for a beautiful bracelet, too!
To work off all the food, we took a late trip to the zoo to walk around and burn some calories. Of course, we got a picture at the infamous totem poles...
And then we headed over to the Giraffes, which were the animals Eva chose to see that day...
On Monday, we worked hard to make sure that when daddy came home, he would feel extra special for his big day. We made a big sign and decorated the garage door so when Daddy parked and opened the garage, he would see his Happy Birthday sign hanging and be greeted by Eva and Enzo...
And before we even got into the house, Eva excitedly told him about the crab stuffed salmon dinner he requested, the cupcakes, and the gifts that were waiting for him. It left him with no surprises, but I think Daddy felt very special and was so happy that so much effort was made for him. As soon as we got inside, Daddy opened his gifts...
And after dinner, we sang "Happy Birthday", made wishes, blew out candles, then ate yummy cupcakes.
Another great year for such a wonderful and well-deserved man.
