This past weekend was hot, sunny, and lots of fun. My college friend, Dana, came to visit for the weekend from Hermosa Beach, Ca. It was so nice to see her and catch up. For the last few times we hung out, it was a bit rushd and we were usually in a big group, so we didn't get to talk much. This time, we had all of Saturday together (just her and I), so we went and had dinner at El Zarape, a new mexican restaurant near my house (and P.S. if you ever come to visit me, make sure we eat there because it is soo good and just slightly different than the usual). After dinner and a few margaritas later, we went down to Rosie O'gradys to share a pitcher of beer and some great conversation. We ended the night with my husband, Dana, picking us up and having one more drink together. Whenever my friend, Dana visits, its always so much fun. Especially since there are 2 Danas--we always get a few laughs out of it.
Sunday morning, we went downtown and had breakfast at Mary Jane's, in the Hard Rock Hotel. My friend, Dana and I both got the Tijuana Eggs Benedict, and yum, yum, it was good. My husband, Dana, had a revelation after he tried Corned Beef Hash for the first time. He absolutely loved it and couldn't stop thinking about all the opportunities in the past where he could've had it, but was too scared to try it. Well, scared no more, he'll be ordering it everytime he sees it on a menu, I'm pretty sure.
We continued our expedition to Intervention on the rooftop of the Hard Rock Hotel for a few drinks, some good music, and mingling with friends. Intervention is an event that takes place every Sunday, where people go to show off their bikinis, listen to good music, and have fun in the sun. Dana and I have been talking about going for the last 2 years, and we were finally able to go check it out this last weekend.
After we got home from Intervention, and Dana left to go back home, we went to our cousin, Lorie's house for the best carne asada I think I've ever had. Lorie BBqed all the meet, made her own guacamole, and rice and beans. I ate two plates full, where I probably should've only eaten one. Where I found the room for that second helping is beyond me. :) We got to talk about all kinds of fun things, and recap on the last time we saw each other, which was our wedding. And, they also gave us our wedding gifts. Aside from some really nice registry items we asked for, Lorie also framed a peice of paper, which was decorated with the same flowers as our invitations, and wrote out the reading that she read during our ceremony. It brought us to tears to receive something so sentimental. It is sooo beautiful!
