Spooktacular October

As soon as October hits, there are so many fun activities and festivities going on to get ready for Halloween.  The kids love getting into the spirit.

For one of Eva's friend's birthday party the kids got to paint little pumpkins to take home with them...

Last week, Daddy took Eva on her class field trip to Oma's Pumpkin Patch.  It was a very special treat, for he had to take the morning off from work just to have this special date with Eva.  Daddy tried hard to take pictures, but there was alot of excitement and running around.  He did manage to catch Eva in mid-flight, sledding down the cotton seed hill...

...and then pose for a Farmer picture...

One day, the kids and I took a trip to the dollar store to find some spooky goodies to put together some Halloween activities for home.  I made trays with eye balls, rats, witch fingers, spider rings, vampire mouth whistles, and much more.  I let the kids get creative with how they played with it all, which has kept them entertained for quite a while...

We also decorated some paper decorations with silly face stickers...

And when they ran out of places to put the stickers on their decorations, they used them for their pumpkin...

This last weekend, we attended the annual Fall Festival at Point Loma Nazarene.  We love this event because there are so many legit, fun things to do for the kids and it is all free.  You even get to go home with free pumpkins!  We got dressed up in some Halloween attire and managed to get some fun pictures of the kids before we left...being goofy, of course!

And one of myself in my favorite Halloween shirt (I bought this one when I was pregnant with Enzo.  I was so excited to get to wear it again!)

Once we finally got to the festival, we took full advantage of everything free.  We went on a horse carriage ride, visited a petting zoo (with all baby animals--even a pot-bellied pig!), bounced on the bouncy houses, and one of the kids' favorites, pony rides!  I wish I would've got more pictures of their pure excitement riding on the ponies.  They were laughing so hard, they just loved it!

Later that night, we headed down the street to Eva's preschool, where the church that it is affiliated with put on a Halloween festival with face painting, games, food, and trunk-or-treating.  I didn't want the kids to wear their Halloween costumes and get them messed up for the big  day this Friday, so I asked Eva to get creative and find a new costume.  She went and grabbed her new favorite dress (her Packers dress) and added a cape and eye mask, calling herself a "Packers cheerleader superhero".  Perfect!  Enzo saw this and immediately got excited and pulled his jersey out of his drawer to wear his Packers, too.  And so the two of them became Packers superheroes...

The event ended up to be pretty slow-paced and not very many people, which was a perfect way to end the evening.  Our neighbors, Cynthia and Joshua, and Heather and the kids all met us there and we pretty much took over the whole event.  The people putting it on were so great and did so much for the kids.  We ended up closing the place down.  Here was just round one of many, through the trunk-or-treating parking lot...

And now I think we have exhausted all before-the-holiday events and we are ready for the real deal this Friday!
