School's Out For Summer!

Eva's first year of preschool came to an end last week.  It was sad to say good-bye to yet one more year, especially with all the friends Eva made, the bonds that were shared, and the teachers that have helped groom her into the wonderful and smart girl that she is.

Leading up to her last days, we talked about all the things we would do when summer was out.  The first on our list was dye Eva's hair purple, so she could go to school on her last day with the fun, summer 'do.  We just loved how it turned out.

Unfortunately, when the box said semi-permanent, it actually meant "almost completely washes out after one shampoo", so it only stayed for a couple days.

On her last day, she wore the same dress that she wore on her first day.  It is very apparent that she grew quite a bit because it was very tight on her, but she still loved it the same.

She had her normal class ,but then asked the parents to come in a little early for pickup to spend some time reflecting on the year.  They played the graduation song in the background, while handing out their binders and giving hugs.  It was really cute and teary eyed, of course.  The way the teachers summed up the year with the class couldn't have been more appropriate.  Just the week before, we went on a walking field trip.  We stopped at a big construction site and talked to Mr. Bill...

Then, went to a turtle/Koi pond to eat a snack, count the animals in the water, and play on a big, grassy hill.  One of the girls in the class, Ava, had a broken leg and had been in a wheel chair, so she could only watch all her friends running up and down the hill.  Her brave and strong mom wanted her to join in the fun, so she kept pushing Ava up the hill, then running alongside her down the hill.  All the friends loved it and ran with her, making Ava feel just like everyone else.  After Ava's mom started getting tired from pushing the wheelchair up the hill, the children didn't want the fun to stop so they all stepped right up and helped push her up the hill.  Seriously, so thoughtful and so fun.  They wouldn't have had it any other way...

And the teachers used that story to end on, to describe what these classmates meant to each other.

Of course, I couldn't leave her last day without getting a couple pictures with some of her special people.  Here is Mrs. G (Gutowski) and her daughter, Justine, giving Eva some love...

And another of her and Mrs. Greaves (who is her favorite outdoor teacher)...

As soon as Eva's last school day was over, we jumped right into summer fun.  Being that my really good friend was visiting from Colorado with her family, it was the perfect time to celebrate with fun adventures!  We had a beach day, a bbq day at our house, and of course, a Seaworld day!

Yesterday started our first official week with our summer schedule.  We are going to, among many other things, try and get as much beach time in as we can.

And continue with ice skating lessons (something I haven't blogged about yet, but Eva loves it!!)  Here she is in action...

And here is she with a girl we know, Sidonie, who is planning to take extra time to show Eva some moves she can work on!

Our summer is going to be quite fun and hopefully filled with lots of happy memories.
