When Eva woke up, she came running into our room and said "I'm a five year old!!". It was so sweet to see just how exciting her birthday was to her. She got me out of bed and we walked into the kitchen where she was surprised with balloons and gifts!
She couldn't wait to see what was inside the packages, but being that she is five now, she has discovered more patience and thoughtfulness, deciding to wait for Enzo to wake up so they could celebrate her birthday together. As soon as Enzo awoke, we enjoyed birthday pancakes and song.
Eva opened her gifts, which she was very excited to see that Mommy and Daddy got her a Rapunzel Lego set. She had been hoping and wishing for more Legos and didn't even know there was a Rapunzel set, so it was both surprising and very exciting. And right when she was in the middle of working on her new Legos, she got a surprise birthday visit from Auntie Vonnie who came over to give Eva a gift and give her lots of birthday love...
After naptime came the point that Eva had been wishing for. Initially when she agreed not to have a birthday party, she asked if she could at least have a princess cake. Specifically, she wanted one of those Barbie cakes where the cake is the dress of the Barbie. Knowing our local grocery store sold them, I agreed to the cake. So, leading up to her birthday she told everyone who would listen about the cake she was getting. This cake was a big deal! Additionally, she wanted to spend her birthday with two of her favorite friends, Hannah J and Ellie. While we weren't able to see Hannah J, we were able to celebrate the princess cake with Ellie. A dream come true in Eva's eyes. There really are no words to explain the pure joy in this little girl's eyes.
And now we have ourselves a five year old. A young lady who tells us that being five means she will listen better and have more patience...and you better believe we are going to milk it for all that we can. In seriousness, though, she really is beautiful inside and out and we are so honored to have her for a daughter. She really makes us proud.
