Spring Adventures

Since the last post, we've still been keeping up with our busy lives and fun adventures.  About a month ago, my cousin Jennifer brought a friend to come and visit us in San Diego for a short weekend.  It was so fun to reunite and hang out.  Since they enjoy beer and the brewing process we were very excited to introduce them to some of our craft breweries.  We started at Stone Brewing for lunch and a tour of the brewery.  We got to see the whole brewing process and test some of their new brews.

Shortly after, my mom came to visit and help us with the kids so we could attend a kid-free wedding in Palm Springs.  It was so fun to dress up, walk around leisurely, and do whatever we wanted without any responsibilites.  We ate dinner late and lounged by the pool.  We really enjoyed our time together.

The following weekend was Mother's Day, which was a special treat this year.  Not only did I get to spend it with my kids and husband, but I also got to be with my mom!  It was a pretty exciting weekend because we were also taking our new camper out for its first time with our family.  We wanted to make sure everything worked and it slept our family well.  We chose a place close by just in case we ran into problems.  We went to Silver Strand in Coronado.  It was beach camping, right up to the sand in a beautiful area where we could play in the sand all day...

Play in the water...

Then watch the sun set over the water...

It was a beautiful weekend!

Like I mentioned above, one our newest additions is a camper!  Dana and I have been putting our feelers out for a while for a good deal on a camper.  We had a great opportunity come our way and we jumped on it.  And, after our trial run and finding that everything works well, it's time for us to celebrate it and go on some adventures!

Last weekend, we took it camping high up in the mountains near Big Bear...

We didn't have hookups for this trip, so we got to see how long we could last with batteries, a generator, and a water tank.  We were gone about 4 days and everything went really well.  Our first full day camping was a bit chilly, but we were still excited to get out and explore.  We started the afternoon with a beautiful hike on the mountainside...

Enzo spend his time collecting sticks, rocks, and pine cones.  Eva spent her time navigating the trail.  And Zander spent his time soaking things in from his viewpoint and sharing his findings with me.  At one point he looked up and said, "Wow!  Look!" as he pointed into the trees.  He was right.  Wow!

The next day we had 3 families join us.  All of the kids had a blast together.  There was a paved loop for them to ride their scooters and bikes, an ampitheater to put on "performances", and adventures into the forest.  The kids never stopped smiling.

Each of the kids created special bonds, which was their favorite part of the whole weekend.

Until the next time!
