Enzo has had a festive last few days.  He started the birthday celebrations by getting a song and cupcake candle in school with his classmates...

Then, last Saturday was his actual bday.  As soon as he woke up and came out of his room, I told him to get ready for an adventure.  He and I hopped in the car and headed to the doughnut shop to pick out some goodies for breakfast.  We grabbed a couple extras to enjoy in the car on our way back home (our little secret, shhh)...

He had a good day and felt loved by everyone.  He opened gifts, took some fun phone calls, got to make all the family decisions, and learned how to tell everyone that he is now 5!  We ended the birthday celebrations over the weekend with song and cake...

Then, this week, while the big kids were in school, Enzo had his friends over for a Monster Jam birthday party.  Boy was he excited...and daddy was too.  Dana worked hard at making a smaller version of the Monster Jam track so the kids could use the smaller trucks to wheel around.  He stacked some big tires for the kids to climb, then made a big sign to really tie it all in.  I have to say, he did a pretty darn good job.

It was a hit with the kids.  They had a blast running around and checking the things out, climbing, jumping, etc.  And right when they thought there was nothing more to do, Dana gave them all Monster Truck rides!

Enzo was so happy to spend the day with his friends, celebrating being five.

And the best way to end the day was with the moster truck cake he had been wanting so bad!

Now that the celebrating and excitement is over, I'm trying to absorb the fact that Enzo is a 5 year old.  But, he has made it very clear he is ready to be a big boy.

Some things I think about with Enzo right now is that he has grown very interested in learning letters, their sounds, and how to read.  He is frequently asking what the Spanish translation to English words are.  He is very fond of the color red.  He is a big fan of San Diego State Aztecs, Michigan, and the Green Bay Packers.  He doesn't want to play any sport other than hockey.  He loves Ninjago, dinosaurs, and bugs, and continues to grow in complexity with his interest in building and creating, always taking a huge consideration into the physics of things.  He likes learning how to write names, is enjoying creating storybooks, and this kid just tickles my heart every day.

Happy Birthday, Enzo.  You are a truly magnificent kid.
