After spending the week in Bend, we hopped over to Portland to spend a couple days with Dana's good friend, Joe. He lives in the perfect place in Portland, with a beautiful view overlooking Overland Park. We spent our first night unwinding, relaxing, and catching up. Then, the next day, Joe took the family on a fun adventure.
We started our day with a trolley ride to the OMSI Museum...
From the trolley, we took a short walk over to the museum...
And once we got inside, we couldn't believe how big it was! There was SO. MUCH. TO. DO. You could easily spend two whole days there. But, we only had part of a day, so we chose the submarine tour...
And, the Robot exhibit...
We got home right at dinner time, when Diana (Joe's wife) was just getting home from a short trip. So, we got to spend time with her and eat a relaxing dinner while the kids jumped and danced around while playing with Diana's record player. She even had a Taylor Swift record (A big score from Eva)...
The next morning, it was time for us to say good-bye to Portland, Oregon to continue on our journey...
We drove north to Washington, taking a bit of a scenic route for a little adventure, while meeting up with Dana's cousin, Sandy and her 'son Kingston and niece, Neziah. They didn't live on our route, but made a suggestion to meet in Sequim to take the kids to a drive through animal park together.
Of course, the kids hit it off immediately...
We let them run around and play for a bit, then we all hopped into Sandy's car for the Drive Through Zoo. When driving through, you were allowed to feed the animals whole wheat bread, which Sandy brought tons for all of us to share. It was a fun, hilarious, slimy, scary experience.
We saw so many different kinds of animals, from bunnies and peacocks, to Bears and Buffalo (and just a side note, you couldn't feed the bears ;) ). Some animals were more interested in our food than others. The Elk liked what we had, but we had to be careful not to feed them too much, or they would try harder to get their head in the window and get their horns caught...
And, the ones with the slimiest tongue and most aggressive to get into the vehicle were the buffalo. Zander and I basically hid, while the others fed them while getting licked and slobbered on. Eww!
We ended the fun with Bubble Gum ice cream and lots of giggles before parting ways so we could continue onward...
When we left Sequim, we had just a couple more hours before landing at our final destination. In order to get there, though, we had to take a ferry across the Puget Sound. Our truck and camper came, too!
Once we landed on the other side, we made it to our final destination! I'll follow up with the last blog about our road trip as soon as I can.
