Making Memories on Memorial Day

Monday was a day of honoring those who fought for our country, and in doing our part, we flew our flag to show everyone our gratitude.  As a day that most people have off from work, I did what I could to get Dana to take the day off too.  He was a little reluctant at first, but I'm so glad that he did because once we got out of the house, it turned out to be one of the best days that we have had together as a family.

We started off with breakfast at Cafe 222, where Dana tried their infamous Peanut Butter and Banana Stuffed French Toast and I tried their Orange-Pecan Pancakes.  Yum yum....Eva had a hard time deciding what she wanted off the menu ;)

After eating, we walked off all the good food by taking a stroll through the Martin Luther King Promenade...

And then made a last minute decision to walk to the Horton Plaza shopping mall.  It's an outside mall, so we were just going to walk through and see if anything caught our eye while enjoying the sunshine.  As we were searching the Nordstrom shoe selection, we ran in to an old friend of ours, who now has an 18 month old son.  It was so nice to see Angie, her husband Jimmy, and son Parker.  We hadn't seen them since before they became pregnant, so it has been a couple years.  It was great to talk about being parents and have our babies meet.

After the mall, we treated ourselves to a couple appetizers at Bub's at the Ballpark (Web Design Solutions designed their website).  It was the perfect way to end our day downtown before we headed back home.  It was an amazing, relaxing, much needed day as family....thank you for taking the day off, Daddy :)
