Me llamo Rocky

Summer Days Go By Too Fast

With Heather and the kids living so close and the summer weather treating us so good, its no wonder Eva and I are busy galavanting around town.  There is so much to do and so many to see!

We started the week off at the San Diego Zoo.  Thanks to Grandma Nevins, Eva and her cousins have a year pass, which Heather and I couldn't wait to take advantage of.  So, last Tuesday, we met at the zoo to see all the interesting animals. Knowing we would have plenty of opportunities to come back, we took our time and saw just a few of the many animals...including Lions, Elephants, Meerkats, and monkeys.  Eva was a bit hot, so it was tough to get her out to look around, but she did manage to get a peek at the monkeys with all of us in the shade...

After the zoo, Eva and I had a one-on-one date with Kierce, who spent the night with us.  On Wednesday, we got Eva all ready and fed, then headed out the door to head to the mall.  Since Eva's been growing so fast, I wanted to be sure and get pajamas in the next size so they would be washed and ready when her feet started stretching out of the one's she's wearing, its just fun to pick out clothes for Eva.  I think Kierce would agree!  Here are the girls before we left...

We headed to some outlet stores with great prices and I'm happy to say our mission was accomplished.  We got new pajamas and, of course, a little bit more.  :)  Thank you, Kierce, for being so much fun and a great help.

After having a busy week and a busy last 8 months, I finally built up the courage to get away for a while and let Daddy take care of Eva.  Heather, too, has been so busy with mommyhood and getting life started here in San Diego, so Ryan took their kids for a little while...and it was time for Heather and I to have a little girl time.  It wasn't an easy thing to do, but I think it was time for me to try and see how I would do.  While I cried all the way to picking up Heather, Dana assured me that Eva was going to be happy and have fun and everything would be ok.  And, once Heather got in the car it was hard for either of us to feel anything but happy to have this one-on-one time together.  We treated ourselves to lunch, pedicures, a long walk on the boardwalk, then ended the day with Acai bowls.  The day was perfect!

We ended the day feeling rejuvenated and excited to get back to motherhood.  I was so happy when I got home to see Rocky, Daddy, and Eva all standing outside the front door to greet me with big smiles...and Eva was squealing in delight.  It was the perfect way to end such a wonderful day.

But, my weekend didn't end there.

On Sunday, our friend, Dana and her boyfriend were visiting San Diego from LA, so we met with them to grab lunch and catch up.  As we talked, we realized that time had flown by and it had been almost a year since we last saw each other.  And, this was Dana's first time meeting Eva!  It was another perfect day spent at the beach...we had great food, took a nice walk on the boardwalk, and really enjoyed catching up.

Tomorrow is the beginning of another busy week...I'm sure you'll be hearing all about it. :)
