Dana's Bday

Being that this year we had more family to celebrate Dana's 34th birthday, we also had more birthday celebrations (Lucky!!).  It started on Tuesday when Aunt Jean and Amy were visiting.  Since it was Amy's 34th birthday a few weeks ago as well, Heather baked a scrumptious chocolate cake to celebrate both Amy and Dana's birthdays.  She even slipped in a little zuchinni to see if anyone would notice, and to all of our amazement, it was delicious!

On Thursday it was Dana's actual birthday, so he treated himself to a light day of working from home.  Here, Eva, Rocky, and I gave him our Bday cards and a little gift.

Then, that evening Heather and the kids watched Eva at their place while we got dressed up and went on a romantic birthday dinner date at Ruth's Chris (Dana couldn't wait for some surf and turf).

Being that it was our first date alone in 8 months, we took full advantage by taking our time with a couple drinks, appetizers, entrees, and dessert.  We were lucky to have a table overlooking the San Diego Bay which was absolutely beautiful.  We had great conversations, talked a whole lot about how much we love our daughter, how much we love each other, and how lucky we are to have this amazing life together.

Once we were done with our date, we were very anxious to see our baby girl.  When we picked her up, she seemed very happy and it sounded like she had so much fun with Aunt Heather and her cousins.

And, although Thursday night ended, the birthday celebrations did not.  On Saturday, Heather and Ryan invited us over for a family birthday party for Dana.  Paulette and Bo, Lorie and Steph all joined us for a day by the pool.  Knowing Grandma Long's infamous Red Velvet Cake is Dana's ultimate favorite birthday cake, Heather attempted her first natural red cake using beet juice for coloring.  She did an amazing job, the cake was so Mmm Mmm good!
