This last Wednesday was Dana and my 3 year wedding anniversary. We chose to celebrate it this year with a family trip to the La Costa Resort and Spa in Carlsbad as we did last year. Before we left, though, we exchanged gifts as we had been doing in the previous years. This year's theme was leather.
Dana got me a beautiful new diaper bag (I've been dying for a new one) with leather trim and attachments. I got Dana a leather case for his jewelry (cufflinks, watches, tie clips, etc.) and a leather business card holder.
After the gifts were exchanged, we headed out for our family packed weekend. Before you ask, we chose to include Eva on our getaway for we also wanted to take a family trip together before the baby comes to relax and have some fun away from the house. Since time is limited, we decided to combine our anniversary with the family trip. Rest assured, Dana and I made plans for us to have some alone time to celebrate 3 years of marriage. We got a babysitter for half a day, treating ourselves to a spa day, including a couples massage. We thoroughly enjoyed our alone time, but were excited to get back to Eva for fun at the waterpark.
The resort we stayed at had its own waterpark with a shallow kids pool perfect for Eva. She hasn't been extremely confidant in the water, making for a nervous mommy, but by the time we left, she was practically swimming by herself.
For the most part, though, Eva got lots and lots of daddy time. Daddy took her for rides through the water...
Threw her in the air...
Buried her in the sand....
Played Ring Around the Rosie in the splashpark...
but sometimes, she ventured out on her own to make friends her own size...
While most of our time was spent in the pool together, we also had a great time in the plaza. We played in the arcade...
Roasted marshmallows and made S'mores...
And just enjoyed being the happy family that we are.
Dana and I had enjoyable moments of our own...
And we all left feeling more connected, relaxed, and refreshed.
