Halloween Festivites Begin!

The Halloween festivities started last Thursday when we had a Halloween bash with Eva's outdoor class.  We met at a park that had a small graveyard in the corner of the lot.  It made for the perfect place to take some pictures.  We didn't put Eva's costume on that day because I didn't want it to get ruined by all the dirt and sand at the park right before the real day came, so we both dressed up in our Halloween-spirited t-shirts...

On Saturday, we attended our annual neighborhood Boo Parade, meeting up with Marieva and Paula.  We tried on Eva's new butterfly costume and she just loved it.  She loved that it had wings and she even kept the antennas on the whole time!  I wore my hilariously funny t-shirt again...

We found a great spot in the shade, right next to the announcers, so each float would stop in front of us to do a performance.  Eva and Marieva watched the whole darned thing with more patience than I've ever seen the two of them have...

Suprisingly, there weren't many floats that gave you candy, but there were a few.  And it didn't take long for the girls to figure out that there might be goodies at every stop.  (Hmm, now that I think about it, maybe thats why they were sitting so patiently?).  As much as they both wanted the sugar rush, they did a great job sharing each and every piece.  Neither of them had any problem taking the "sloppy seconds" bite, haha...

With lots of bands in the parade, Eva had a blast dancing with the other kids in the street...

And when that was all done and naptime was over, we had our family pumpkin carving night.  Eva was a little reluctant to touch the pumpkin guts at first...

But once she saw how much fun mommy and daddy were having, she finally dug in...

Mommy toasted the pumpkin seeds (which we all loved and ate all of that night) as daddy saved the honey from his disappearing bees.  He cut out all the honeycomb and he and Eva strained it from the waxy part...

Since Eva is already familiar with the process and honey in general, she knew she couldn't resist at least a couple finger dips in the ooey gooey goodness...

That night, after being all hopped up on Halloween candy and honey, Eva was practicing her jumps, as she has been alot lately.  She got her step stool out to jump off of and was doing a great job with her lands.  She was happy as a clam, having the best time ever....Then, in a brief moment of forgetting she was on the stool, she was about to run after me to chase me, she lunged forward off the stool and fell landing on one of her feet as it was kneeling underneath her.  I'm pretty sure it stretched the foot much further than comfort would allow because she immediately started crying.  She woke up that night telling me her foot hurt, so I knew it was something more serious than a little boo boo.  I didn't see anything broken or swollen, but her foot was very hot.  I waited til the morning to see if it still hurt and what do you know, the second that foot hit the floor she started crying.  I knew she had a slight sprain, so any plans that we would've had on Sunday were changed to spend the day on the couch.  To reassure me that she was in fact in pain, she wouldn't even leave the couch unless Dana or I carried her or she crawled on the floor with her feet in the air.  So, she got the star couch treatment of watching anything she wanted and eating her meals right in front of the TV...

By the end of the day, Eva had enough and began to walk on her foot.  She started off with a limp and by the end, she was back to practicing her jumps.  I told her no jumping until tomorrow or when her foot starts feeling better, so, of course, the first thing she asked me this morning was if it was ok for her to practice her jumps again.  I'm happy to say she is feeling much better today and in perfect time to walk the streets for her first trick or treating experience :)
