Me llamo Rocky

Where's the Pause Button?

With a new year comes many new experiences and Eva has not been short of anything new.  I feel like she has completely transformed into a new little girl.  For starters, her once blue eyes are now starting to change to a greenish tint.  We love her blue eyes, but mommy and daddy surely don't mind if she joins us in the green-eyed group.  And no matter what color her eyes are, they will always stand out.

Eva is also getting two more of her 2-year molars.  Let me tell you, THAT is a challenge.  She basically has every symptom that comes with the territory like waking up hours before she normally would. We'll just say that it has been the biggest test to my patience...but guess who's winning?  My patience!  Thats right, I'm actually surprising myself, I just keep reminding myself it will all be over once these darn things fully emerge (all the spikes have poked through-almost there!).

And after everything mentioned above, it might not make sense to tell you that I also started potty training Eva.  My crazy idea came because one of the symptoms of her teething is diaper rash, which she had pretty bad, so I was letting her run around the house with no diaper.  She loved it so much that she would ask at every opportunity, "Eba run around the house make-it?" (translation: Can I run around the house naked?).  And, so if she's running around naked, I may as well show her where to go potty, right?  Right!  Well, I'm taking a slow, stress-free approach, but I'd like to report that she is doing great!  (and she might not be happy about me posting this, but I couldn't resist)

Daddy and Eva have been getting some quality one-on-one time together for the past few weekends, giving Enzo and Mommy some quiet time to get things done around the house.  On one of those outings, Dana took Eva to a gymnastics class for toddlers to see if she would like it.  When they came back, they were both excited to talk about how much fun it was...

Last weekend, since the weather was perfect, they hiked Cowles Mountain...

While hanging at the house after dinner one night, they put her Hello Kitty Chia Pet together...

And they also let Enzo in on a little storytime (Eva's favorite time)...

During the week, Eva, Enzo, and I are always busy.  Eva is in 3 classes, and on the days there aren't class we have had playdates with her friends.  Since it was a holiday yesterday, we met up with her friends Stella, Nathan, Bella, and Natalie at a park to play...

When we aren't running around keeping busy, we also manage to spend time together at the house.  Eva is learning more and more each day how to be very gentle with Enzo and absolutely loves trying to make him smile.  She is always asking for opporunities to hold him...

She always wants to snuggle with him and read him books in her crib when she wakes from her nap.  I'll never get enough of that!  A few days ago, they spent tons of time in her crib together and she was doing everything in her power to make Enzo smile (which really wasn't too difficult, he smiles as soon as he hears her voice)...

He even got so excited he started to give a little laugh.  I know Eva will be the first to get him really laugh for the first time.  She just has the magic touch.

As I turned my back for a minute, I could hear Eva say "Enzo, you want Eba hold you?  Come here, come here, Enzo".  And I look to see her picking him up.  I supervised the whole thing and was actually really proud of her for how well she did and even as uncomfortable as Enzo might look, he was totally ok with this position (I'm sure he'd endure just about anything to be closer to Eva)...

I hope you aren't sick of seeing just how cute these two are together cuz I can't help but post them at every opportunity.  Here's one more.  Eva isn't a thumb sucker, but for some odd reason she is always trying to show Enzo how to suck his thumb.  Right before I took this pic she was trying to put his thumb in his mouth and gave up, showing him how to do it by doing it herself.
