To help celebrate my birthday last weekend, we decided to take a family road trip to Palm Desert to stay at a fun resort with a waterpark. Being that its winter, the weather was perfect there, 80's and sunny, perfect for spending our days in the water. As soon as we arrived, we checked in, threw our bathing suits on and hit the pool. It was Enzo's first time, so I wasn't sure what he would think, but he loved it.
We spent as much time as possible pool-side, switching off duties between the two little ones. Enzo spent most of his time lounging...
...joining Eva in the water when he wanted to cool off...
Eva? Well, she spent every single possible moment she could in the water. She had the best time with Daddy, who was strong enough and daring enough to throw her as high as she wanted and had just as much fun bouncing from one pool to the next. Her favorite was to find the "Hottie Tottie", which is what she called the hot tubs...
We decided to spend one morning away from the resort to check out the Living Desert. They had beautiful trails to walk along and great animal exhibits (and different enough from the SD zoo to feel like we were seeing new things). We saw Giraffes, among many other animals..
And Eva took some time to visit with the Billy Goats...
Back at the resort, we did have a little time out of the pool. We enjoyed walking around because this was our view...
At night, they had fireplaces everywhere, which all the kids seemed to love. There were kids running around everywhere, and of course, Eva was quick to find friends of her own, following the bigger girls around wherever they went. It was so nice to sit on the couches and people watch while enjoying our own personal fireplace...
We treated ourselves to breakfast at the resort one morning. Due to our big stroller, they set us on a table in a different section than the rest of the guests...so, of course, all the waiters thought "the other waiter" had us, meaning no service for FAR TOO LONG when you have a toddler and a baby. Eva's patience were running thin until I remember the Dora coloring pack I had in my backpack. Eva found the perfect way to use up time while we were waiting (she sure is creative)...
After our stay was done and we were all so worn out we could barely keep our eyes open, it was time for us to leave. We decided to take the windy ride through the mountains on the way home to get one last glimpse of the beautiful Coachella Valley. While the beginning of the ride was quite scary at times (Dana drove with white knuckles!), the view was beautiful. This picture shows a great view of the valley and the road we used to get to our spot...
Thank you to my wonderful hubby and beautiful little ones for making my birthday so fun. I had the best time of my life and appreciate every single moment of it. I love you!
