Granny Time

Last week, my mom came to town to fill up her Granny Tank.  In order to help Eva understand exactly when Granny's airplane would touch down in San Diego, we made a countdown calendar where she tore down a number every day until Granny arrived.  She loved it so much that the first thing that would come out of her mouth every morning is "I need to pull down a number."

And then the day arrived.  We were all so excited to see each other.  Despite Granny's long hours of traveling, we threw her into our busy schedule full force.  On Tuesday we went to our Outdoor class.  Granny spent most of the time running around with Eva and her friend, Stella.  They made "Apple Pies" at the "Bakery Counter"...

read books, swung on the swings, and much, much more.

On Wednesday we went to our class with Teacher Helen.  Eva was overly excited to show off that she had Granny with her, especially since Granny did whatever Eva wanted.  She read many, many books in the "library", went for wagon rides with her friend Stella, and so much more...

By Thursday, we were all ready for a little down time.  We spent the entire day at the house (I actually got a few things done!).  We goofed around inside for a while...

Enzo took a bath, showing Granny just how hard he could kick and just how far he could splash the water.  He sure was proud of himself...

Then headed out when the sun started shining.  Eva showed Granny her new swing set and talked her into trying out the slide...

Granny was sure to spend time with her grandsons, too, who were very content laying around (I'm sure Granny didn't mind a little rest)...

On Friday, my mom gave me the ultimate day I've been dreaming about for so long...a shopping day!  We found a mall with the most beautiful family area (playground, indoor play area with books, TV, toys, seperated nursing stations with rockers, microwave, and complimentary diapers--I kid you not--thank you mom friends for the great idea!)  We spent half the time together so my mom could help me with her opinion on things I was trying on (and also treating me), then I peeled off by myself to try out a couple more stores while she took to the family area with the kids.  OMG, I barely even knew what to do with myself.  I loved every minute of it!  And now I have a few new cute clothes to get me out of my nursing mom slump.  Talk about a mother's dream coming to light.

On Saturday, our last day together, we visited The Carlsbad Flower Fields

We went for a wagon ride through the beautiful flowers...

and got a little goofy at the children's area...

It was the perfect way to wrap up our visit.  We were sad to see Granny go, but look forward to the next visit.  Thank you for the extra pair of hands, mom.  We love you and miss you already.
