Me llamo Rocky

June Gloom Won't Stop Us

Last weekend we attended "Baby Solana"'s 1st birthday party.  Eva was extremely excited as soon as she caught wind that there would be a bouncy house.  And I was excited as soon as I caught wind that there would be 120 cupcakes.  The theme was Hawaiian Luau and the birthday girl was extremely adorable...

They had a pinata, which Eva was quite confused about.  She was second in line to take a whack at the candy-stuffed pinata and right as she was about to take her turn, daddy says "Just pretend its Dora, Eva."  In hindsight, that was not a very good idea.  She completely froze, then lightly tapped the pinata, probably scared to hurt "Dora", her all-time favorite cartoon character...

...but once the candy popped out and all the kids started running, she got the hang of it really quick :)

Since our classes are over for the summer, we decided it was time to try something new.  We participated in a trial gymnastics class, which Eva loved and did great in, so we signed her up for Tuesday mornings.  When we showed up for our first day, it turned out Eva was the only one who signed up for the class.  They had to close it out (we had to choose a different day), but they followed through with class that day, which meant Eva got one-on-one time with Mr. Eric.  I think it really worked out for our benefit; we got a free class, Eva learned new moves that Mr. Eric was able to give all his attention to, and when we started the next class with her friends she fully understood what to do, where to go, and where to sit to wait her turn.  She made me so proud in every part of the class, especially impressing me on the balance beam...

At home, Eva and I were looking for a new way to be creative.  We decided that "washable" markers needed to be used for more than just paper...

And afterwards, we took to a coloring book.  I hadn't paid much attention to what Eva was doing while with her coloring book, but I did see her work after she was done and noticed progress in her work...

Do you know what I'm seeing?  She's not just scribbling anymore, she's attempting to color in the lines of what she is working on.  :)

Eva and Enzo continue to love on each other and spend time playing together.  Lately, they've been doing a lot of wrestling.  For the most part, Eva seems to understand what she's capable of doing, but loves to teeter of the line of "too much".  Most times, though, I will just start to tell her to stop what she's doing because its too tough for Enzo and then Enzo will bust out in the loudest laugh.  He thinks it hysterical.  How do you tell her to stop then?

Like I mentioned last week, Enzo is starting to get into things whenever the opportunity presents itself.  Well, he found the dog food.  Thank god his walker won't allow for him to quite reach it, but it didn't stop him from trying (for like 10 minutes--seriously), haha.  It was cute/funny to watch him try so hard, but then I also realize that he'll figure it out in no time and then I won't be laughing anymore...

We spent some time in daddy's orchard while he was hand pollenating his precious Cherimoya trees.  Enzo and I enjoyed some harvested fruit, which tasted absolutely devine coming straight off the tree...

And, I don't know about you, but there is just something about watching a baby sleep.  Stress Reliever...
