Brynny Brynny Doo Dah

Last week was very special for our family because our niece, Brynn, was here to visit.  She lives in Michigan, which we don't make it back to often, so long ago Uncle Dana and I vowed that we would fly each of our nieces and nephews out here when they turned 13 to show them our hometown and get the chance to spend some quality time with them.  This year was Brynn's 13th birthday.  Between Heather and myself, we were able to pack Brynn's 1 week stay full of fun and new adventures.

On Tuesday, we went to the zoo...

Where we spent alot of time "Hangin' Out"...

Then later in the day, all the kids came to our place for a big sleepover.  The weather was perfect, so they enjoyed some fun on the slip n' slide (best $12 I ever spent)...

And then pizza, Yogurtland, a movie & popcorn...

Later in the week we had a BBQ at our place.  We all got lots of quality time together and Brynn got lots of cuddles with Enzo (he definitely loves his big cousin, Brynn)...

And the kids also got a lesson about the birds and the bees....No, really.  Uncle Dana showed them his beehives and explained their jobs, showed them the fruit trees they pollenate and gave them all a taste test...

Saturday morning, Uncle Dana got a message that his Bronco might be done (he's had someone working on the exhaust system (does that make sense?  I shouldn't even be trying to talk automotive, haha)).  Anyway, it was the perfect time to take Brynn for a spin.  We drove to the auto shop where Uncle Dana and Brynn took it for a tester ride...

...unfortunately, the Bronco had to stay for a few more tweaks.

After that, I wanted a little "girl time" with Brynn (who has been nicknamed "Brynny Brynn Doo Dah" by Eva and myself).  I took her to get her very first Mani Pedi...

We spent the rest of the day at Coronado Beach.  The beach was absolutely beautiful, the water was warm, and the company was fabulous.  Eva and Merrick had fun burying Brynn...

And the girls enjoyed swimming and hanging out...

On Sunday, Uncle Dana really wanted to take Brynn on a hike.  Everyone decided to partake and I think we are all glad that we did.  It was the best start of our day.  We went to Cowles Mountain to begin our hike...

And while this blog is about our visit with Brynn, I just need to give a shout out to Miss Eva Veronica.  She hiked the entire mountain!!  As she got close to the top, she got pretty tired and tripped a few times, but we simply gave her some "purple elixir" (aka water) and she magically felt better and kept on moving.  We all enjoyed the view from the top while eating some snacks and rehydrating for our trip back down...

We couldn't let Brynn leave San Diego without trying Phil's BBQ, one of our all-time faves.  Pretty sure she understood why we like it so much...

Monday was our day to say our good-byes.  Good-byes are never easy, but we are so lucky to have so many memories to cherish.  One final good-bye pic...

Brynn, thank you so much for coming to visit us.  We had the best time ever and are so grateful for each and every memory we made while you were here.  We are missing you already.

Check out more pictures from her visit here.
