Hawaii Awesome

Two weeks ago, we took a family trip to Hawaii.  Its something we've wanted to do for a really long time and finally made it! Knowing that there would be naptimes, we knew we would be spending alot of time in our room so we chose a big resort that would have everything we need right there.  We were on O'ahu at the Hilton Resort in Honolulu.

Knowing that juggling the youngsters would be anything but relaxing for Dana and I, we also had our Granny Nanny shipped to us right out of Wisconsin...

This allowed us to have fun as family, but then Dana and I could sneak away for date nights or some relaxing time in between.

On one of our first days, we left the resort to go for a hike and check out the Hawaiian scenery.  Our first stop was the Nu'uanu Pali Lookout.  The view was amazing but the wind was a little too extreme for comfort.  We took a quick pic and got out of there pretty quickly...

After that we met with Dana's best friend from high school, Cary, and his wife Akane.  They live in Honolulu, so Dana was really excited to look him up when we started our vacation planning.  We met at the Maunawili Falls Trail, which we then all hiked together.  In the first 10 minutes of the hike we would pass people that were coming back and 2 different couples said it was way too far and they had to turn around because it was too tough.  I thought long and hard about whether the waterfall at the end was worth it enough since Eva would be hiking herself and I would be carrying Enzo in a baby carrier.  We came to a really good stopping point...

And, our little girl was ready to keep on moving.  We were so incredibly proud of her, she actually made the hike look really easy :)  As I mentioned above, the end was a waterfall with rocks you could jump off.  I mistakingly didn't realize the waterfall Dana mentioned was during the hike, so I took our bathing suits out of the backpack right before we hit the trail, which meant if you wanted to jump it would be a very wet walk back.  Dana was willing to take the risk, while the rest of us watched from afar...

From our resort, we were able to get lots and lots of pool time...

and also get time on the beach in the beautiful, warm ocean water...

On one of our getaway nights, we met with Cary and Akane for a double date in Waikiki, eating dinner at Kaiwa and then walking along the beach for a little people watching and sightseeing...

We took a day trip to Waikiki with Granny and the kids, which was also fun in a completely different way.  Eva was approached by a guy with some birds, who let her hold them all, get kisses from them, then gathered us all for some group pics...

Of course, you aren't really a tourist if you don't attend a local Luau.  We all got dressed up (and how did I not get a group pics?!) in our Hawaiian attire for some entertainment.  Eva LOVED wearing her dress and watching all the dances, fire, and excitement.  Before we left, Daddy and Eva got a pic with the dancers...

We did so much and had so much fun with so many pictures to share...check out our Hawaii gallery for more pics!
