The Adventures of Eva The Explorer

Getting back in the swing of things means getting back to all the fun activities San Diego has to offer.  Since Granny left we have already been to three birthday parties, class, the YMCA 3 days, Seaworld, and fishing!

Eva had not seen her really good friend, Marieva, in almost a year, so we were both really excited to attend her 3rd birthday party.  Naturally, the girls carried on like no time had passed...

The party was a ton of fun, too!  It was held at Kid Ventures where they had all kinds of fun activities for the kids.  Eva had fun dressing up like a fireman and driving the fire truck...

At her friend, Eli's 4th birthday, she also got to dress up...this time as a construction worker...

All the kids got tool belts with tools and hard hats, which Eva was thrilled about.  She is always asking Daddy to use his tools, so now she will have her own to help him fix things.

She also got to have her face painted, where, of course, she asked for butterflies...

When we took our trip to Seaworld last week, we were greeted by Petey the Penguin who Eva happily posed with (which doesn't happen very often)...

We played with our friends, Oliver and his mom Elizabeth.  Then when they left, Eva chose to go pet the starfish as her one exhibit to visit...

We ended the day with a showing of Madagascar Live!  It was so much fun.  We were the first inside the theater, so we picked the first row right in the middle.  Eva made friends with the girl sitting next to her and they had a blast dancing with the characters.  Alex the lion even came up and gave them a high five during the performance.  Eva was in awe and so excited to see them alive.

Over this last weekend, we visited Ryan, Heather, Rowan, Kierce, and Merrick on the pier in OB to teach Eva some fishing skills during a kids fishing derby.  What it really was was Uncle Ryan telling Eva if he caught anything on the blue pole that it would be hers as she ran up and down the pier with Merrick.  We did register her, though, just in case that lucky fish did take a bite...

For a little while there was a fish doing circles around Kierce's pole.  We thought for sure he was going to take a bite...

But in the end, no fish were caught :(

At home, Eva and I have been spicing things up for lunch.  I was reading a magazine one day when she looked over my shoulder and saw pictures made out of food and said "I want that lunch!"  So she has been picking different themes every day for me to be inspired by to make.  And then when she wakes up from her nap she loves to sit at the table and close her eyes so I can surprise her with the day's lunch.  We made a fun robot, a kitty cat, and then her favorite was the butterfly with flowers...

My favorite part is that she will actually eat everything on her plate no matter what it is because it is part of the picture that she picked out, and it pretty fun to get creative in a new way.
