You Want Thing-a-mabobs? I've Got Twenty

Just hours after I sent last week's blog post, Enzo was feeling what I wrote and decided to prove me wrong.  He was NOT taking his time walking!  That night he started walking into Eva's arms.  And, ONLY Eva's arms.  It was adorable.  Eva and I would try to get him to walk to me, but every time I would say "Can you walk to Mommy?" He would laugh and sit down on his bottom.  Then he would look back at Eva with a big smile and walk back into her arms.  He is doing a great job standing on his own and practicing his balance quite a bit, now taking about 12 steps or so at a time.

One of his absolute, most favorite things to do now, though, is brushing his teeth.  You say awesome, I say No!!  Why? Well because if I forget to shut the bathroom door (which I do on many occasions), he will sneak in, hop up on the stool, grab for his toothbrush and start brushing.  A little boy who just started walking, up on a high surface, with a stick in his mouth?  Not ideal.  But, yes, there is a part of me that thinks it pretty stinkin' cute...

Enzo is also really enjoying putting items on himself, showing us he knows where they belong. His favorites are socks and shoes (like I already mentioned) and now tiaras and headbands, too...

On our last date night, Dana and I decided to make it fun.  I love playing mini golf and a new course just opened, so we went to play a round, winner got a 15 minute massage...

I knew I was going to win because I'm just that good...but, my over-confidance lost the game.  Dana was crowned the winner...but lucky for him, I'm not a sore loser.

We ended our fun night with a rollercoaster ride on the Giant Dipper (a really old wooden coaster)...

Last Monday was Enzo's actual birthday, so I wanted to do something fun for him.  He loves moving around and getting in to things, so we met with our friends at an indoor playground.  Enzo loved the ball pit...

And really enjoyed building with the blocks...

It was a fun way to celebrate being a big boy!

At Eva's class last week I managed to get a picture of Eva and her friends doing "The Beanie Bag Dance."  All the kids love it.  Its a song that they dance to, while holding the bean bag on different parts of the body.  I believe this is "between the knees"...

Last week, Dana was at a work convention in Vegas (poor guy, right?)...while he was gone, we filled most of our evenings having friends over for dinner.  One night, my friend Lindsey came over with her 3 little ones.  Eva was really excited and asked right away if she could hold baby, Jaya (5 weeks old).  After watching how rough she is with Enzo, I was a little anxious, but then realized that she does NOT see Enzo as a baby like I do.  She was so gentle with Jaya and really did her best to make her feel comfortable...

Over the weekend, Eva and I went to her friend, Ellie's birthday party.  It was somewhat of a bittersweet day because it was a beautiful party, but the birthday girl ended up with the flu hitting her half hour before the party started and never got to make it out for an appearance.  Eva made due by making new friends (older boys, of course) though.  They were all wound up on rock candy and having so much fun together.  The fun thing was that the party was rainbow themed and whatever color rock candy the kids got, they were chasing each other around and finding things that matched their color (without any parent suggesting to do so)...

And, although Eva has the energy to keep up with the boys, she is also very girlie.  She loves pink, wants to be a princess, and enjoys "putting on makeup" and dresses.  This can be used to my benefit.  Why?  Because she gets excited about dressing up to take pictures and is practicing her poses.  There is definitely still work to be done, but look at this picture below.  It was all her idea, no guidance AT ALL from me (not even the flower in her hand)...

Work that camera, girl!

Speaking of Eva's girlie ways, we bought Little Mermaid when it was re-released.  I was never in to Disney movies, but this is one I watched about 30 times one summer that I went to visit my cousins and I couldn't wait to show it to Eva.  Well, I had NO IDEA what impact it would have on her, but all I can say is...she now wants everything Little Mermaid.  She sings "Part of that World" all.day.long.  And, I found an Ariel doll in the 1$ section at Target, so since I have given that to her, it goes EVERYWHERE that she goes.  I can't even go in to a store anymore without her catching a glimpse of something Ariel related and her saying "Oh, mommy, I need this.  I'll just put it in the cart."  Nope, Eva, you don't.  I'm loving watching the progression in her age and how much things mean to her.  While I don't let her buy all that is Little Mermaid, I think its so cute that she is so passionate about her.
