Finding Nemo Birthday Party

This year, we celebrated Eva and Enzo's birthday together with a Finding Nemo birthday party at our house.  Finding Nemo was the first movie Eva fell in love with and it was a unisex topic easy to please both Eva and Enzo (although, I'm sure Enzo would've been ok with anything).  We kept it simple by only inviting Eva's friends and their siblings (versus inviting all of mommy and daddy's friends, too).  It turned out to be just perfect!

With lots of supportive help, my vision of the day played out just as I imagined.  Of course, we decorated with Finding Nemo themed decor:

Where Heather added her touch by handcarving a shark watermelon, which turned out so cool.  It just might have been Eva's absolute most favorite decoration for the party...

As soon as everyone entered the party, they were greeted by Heather (my photographer--also known to be my beautiful, wonderful sister-in-law) who took a picture of each family with our sea life photo backdrop.  We had glasses, Nemo characters on a stick, fishing poles, and scooba masks for people to use as props.  And, the backdrop was handpainted by my super creative friend, Jen.  Here is the pic of my awesome helpers before the party started:

And, then here is our family (I also made Eva's dress and Enzo's matching bowtie)...

We had a jelly fish craft for the kids to do inside where Abigail, Rowan, and Kierce helped all the little kiddos out...

I made a sensory table with dyed rice with a sea life theme, which impressively made quite a hit with all the kids...

And when they ran out of ways to play with it, they played in it instead...

We had a pool noodle obstacle course...

After all the running around, we caught a quick pic of most of the kids together...

It was then time to sing Happy Birthday.  We sang to Enzo first.  It was so cute because he knew the attention was on him and he immediately got shy and tried to hide in his chair...

but then had no problems when it came to eating his cake...

Then it was time to sing to Eva, who was very excited.  She was so worried that someone else would blow her candles out so she kept reminding her friends not to blow them out.  The poor boy next to her was so worried that HE would accidentally blow them out that he held his breathe the whole time we sang and kept his hands over his mouth.  When it came to the moment for Eva to make her wish and blow her candles out, she looked up at me with the most precious expression, I almost cried.  She told me (with the way she looked at me) "Mommy, this is the moment I've been waiting for for months!  Is this the time that I make my wish and I blow out my candles?" And I looked back at her with a big smile and said "Yes, it's time, Eva!"  And she blew her candles out so proudly...

After cupcakes, Eva and Enzo opened gifts.  Eva was in heaven with all the new girlie things she got...

And, Enzo was thrilled to have some toys of his own to play with...

Then, on the way out, each kid got to go fishing at the "fishing booth", where they "caught" their party favor bag...

The party was so much fun and everything came together just perfectly...Eva was so sad when she woke up the next day and looked out the window to see all the decorations, but no party.  But, now, she is already planning for when she turns 4 (of course!  My kind of girl--planning ahead ;)  )
