Celebrating Love and Old Age

This last week the kids and I had alot of fun.  We changed up our regular routine and went for something a little more exciting.  We started the week off with Eva's outdoor class which celebrated Valentine's Day by giving Valentines to her friends and then making a butterfly craft.  Eva and I cut out the butterfly together, I helped her assemble the body and antennae and then I let her color it with a marker.  She grabbed that pen right away and guess what she did?!  She wrote her own name, no help and no guidance from mommy!

Eva usually spends all the time with her friends, but every once in a while she will make a little time for Enzo, which makes him very happy...

On Wednessday, the kids and I took a morning trip to Seaworld.  It was a perfect morning.  The kids were so happy and well behaved, the weather was perfect, and it wasn't crowded, so it was actually quite manageable for one mom versus two young kids.  We spent alot of time in Elmo's World running around.  Now that Enzo is walking he can ride most of the rides, so Eva and I took him on a couple....but the poor guy is not as brave as his sister.  He did NOT LIKE the rides AT ALL.  He gripped me so tight, crying, and holding his head into my arms so he didn't have to look.  It was tough to watch him go through it, but he survived.  For the most part, it was Enzo's first time outside of the stroller, so he got to experience alot of things he wasn't use to.  Another was the large, live characters running around.  He couldn't get enough of them, but yet was still to scared for them to touch him.  He just loved looking at them and running circles around.  He would get as close as he could handle it, then the character would move and he would run away, but then turn around and run right back up to it, laughing, and just keep doing that over and over.  He got to meet Elmo and Zoe from Sesame Street...

And then on the way out, he met Pete the Penguin...

Things were also a little different with Eva, too.  She is now a "big girl" and can go on the bigger rides and things by herself.  Since it wasn't crowded, it was the perfect opportunity to give her some freedom and let her do things by herself.  I set up some boundaries like "don't leave this area until you and I make eye contact." Or, as soon as you're done, walk right back over to the bench where Enzo and I are sitting."  She followed my rules very well and really loved having some independance and responsibility.  I could tell she was very proud of herself and so was I.

On Thursday, we met with Solana and Jen at the Children's Museum..  We had never been there before, so when we went we were very impressed.  We quickly realized that if you aren't a member it is a very expensive trip (luckily I had a groupon), but once we got past the front desk we were in awe.  There was so much to do and see and it was all geared towards Eva's age group (which Enzo fit in well with, too).  The theme right now is Food, so all the decor and things to do is created around the idea of food.  We had fun with clay...

We ran into Eva's friend, Ellie, and the girls had a blast in Wobbleland...

And Enzo ended the day with lots of bubbles...

On Friday morning, we started the day off with fun Valentine's Day things for the kids and a yummy pink hearts and "love" pancake breakfast with daddy...

And then later that evening we had a little pizza party at the house with some friends to celebrate my birthday...

On Sunday, which was my actual birthday, we got a babysitter so Dana and I could spend the morning together.  We drove up the coast to have breakfast and then headed over to Bernardo Winery for a wine tasting, good music, walking around, and checking out lots of beautiful artwork...

And then came home in the afternoon to spend the rest of my day with my beautiful little babies.  Whew, talk about a fun week!
