The kids are always on the move and keep making me laugh every day with their ridiculously silly imaginations, my only problem is that they are both too smart to keep doing what they are doing when I grab the camera. It is becoming more and more difficult to capture the fun moments. Rest assured, I will never give up! Here are a few I was able to capture in this last week.
Over the weekend, the kids and I went to wish our friend, Dalina, a Happy 30th Birthday. It was mexican-themed with sombreros, ponchos, and mustaches to really feel festive. Enzo was so funny with his mustache, he kept licking it and giggling while looking at himself in the mirror...
Last week I decided to test out "no-nap" for Eva. To my surprise, it is going very well. I do, however, have to engage alot in her while Enzo is napping because she is actually really tired, but then seems to get her second wind by the time Enzo is up. Over the weekend, she remembered we had a gingerbread house from Christmas that we didn't do and insisted that we work on that while Enzo napped. So we built it up...
...all while Eva asking on repeat, "When can we eat it?" And so, as soon as it was assembled and we stuck as much candy on it as we possibly could, I said "Ok, Eva. I will set the timer for 3 minutes and you can eat as much as you can. When the timer goes off we will put it up and save it for later." Naturally, she was excited, but then realized she didn't know how to eat it. I encouraged her to just take a big bite...
And then when Enzo woke up, they got another stab at it (this time the walls all broke down, so they figured it out pretty quickly)...
Eva and Enzo always do a pretty good job playing together. I mean, there is alot of "not-sharing" and crying when they don't get their way, but for the most part, they would rather play together than apart. Lately, though, I am really starting to see the differences between how they play. Enzo is really interested in playing with figurines, but all of his roar like lions, where Eva's are either a mommy, a baby, or a big sister. Enzo loves balls where Eva isn't interested. Eva likes to line cars up (and books and just about anything that she has multiples of). Enzo actually likes to push the cars around. Enzo is now enjoying building with his Mega Blocks...
And Eva likes to turn hers into obstacle courses...
I recently introduced Enzo to painting on the easel. He loves it! He was very patient and methodical about how he approached each color and what he did with it. I really think he has the knack for art! He was at the easel for quite a long time for someone his age. In fact, Eva had run up to paint and then ran away probably 10 times (as she always has) the whole time Enzo was there...
And after his artwork was completed, we enjoyed some time in the sprinkler. It was a beautifully warm day, but I knew there were cooler, shady days on the horizon, so we enjoyed ourselves just in time...
And then a nice and warm sibling cuddle time...
And lastly, it's not often, but there are times when Eva enjoys working the camera a little. I seize every photographic opportunity...
